>>15692119This is because you're looking at it from a tribal perspective of Holo vs Niji.
Even if something like "The popular holos are popular" is obvious, it's interesting to study what content is popular for each member, if members are inclining/declining, what types of games are popular, debut buff duration and audience retention...etc
>Holo beats Niji.Except we just saw literally a few days ago that it's not as one-sided as the daily numbers paint.
Nijis still have the stronger tourist pull, stronger presence on japanese social media, stronger presence on Youtube Japan...etc.
Holos destroying Nijis in daily numbers doesn't necessarily mean they're more popular than Nijis in Japan, it just means they have more loyal watchers that stick around after the big events. That's good for the girls and their numbers/SCs, but we know when it comes to "popularity", we're talking about who's more mainstream and breaking out of the niche circle.
What we've seen from Niji events is that their normie attracting ability is much stronger this year than last year, while most Holo events have seemingly hit a cap.
We haven't had a holo main POV stream hit 100k CCV yet, and Niji event VODs honestly destroy Holo event VODs.
Niji Splatoon tournament VOD has slightly more views than Miko's POV in the Holo sports fes, and that's their 3rd most successful tournament this year. (Both 1.5 mil) Koshien and Niji Mario kart are close to 3 mil.
Globally, of course, it's no contest that Hololive is more popular, but Japan makes up most of the vtuber watching audience.
