It's kind of understandable, but I don't fully agree with it being an optimal way of going about doing it.
I feel like this has to do more with how she said she doesn't like the way her "real" body looks. I'm sure her Vtuber persona is an extension to how she sees herself and she doesn't wants the extra attention, whether she really deserves it or not (both as Hana and as her "real" self).
Even so, while others may like the fact that she may not change her personality or the way she does things, I can't find her content really appealing and the only impression I have of her now is that she talks about personal stuff all the time and about the nature of being a "vtuber". Like I get it, but it'd be nice if she could play her role as art student or some shit... just something a little more refreshing.

She's still the biggest EN niji in terms of subs and was right there with Pikamee when Vtuber boom was taking off that's why prety much everyone with some deeper interest in Vtubing would at least recognize her name. Also those collabs with her chad father were a bit like the early iteration of Ironmouse/sonur dynamic but actually good, shame she she stopped doing those for similar reasons. Anyway it admirable not to be materialistic and all that but by debuffing herself she also tanked her branch and really the company as a whole in terms of Western expansion.

Having a 3D means she can take part in other 3D streams and from there she could advertise her branch to other parts of the Niji fandom that don't know or are ignoring the ID branch. But on the same hand it's annoying cuz Hana brought a lot of us into nijisanji by being one of first real big vtubers to speak English, she could easily bring more vtubers into the spotlight by collabing with them and en as a translator and shit but she doesn't.
She could've used her 3D model to get more people attracted to her branch, but she refused to get one.
In members streams she talked about how she wanted to collab with Selen but almost chickened out of it when the opportunity finally came up.

Hana doesn't stream in U.S times anymore, frequently does fuck all for membership streams, doesn't collab with EN ever and streams games Months/Years after they came out and the hype has died down and that's if she streams at all since she only does about 3 a week anymore.

I live in MT and literally have an easier time catching Derem, Hyona or Siska than I do Hana, and this wasnt always the case. Back when she was at her peak, she actually streamed during burger hours pretty frequently, it was usually later at night sure but still.

You can pretend her tweets or her dad being based caused her downfall, but in all honesty the only person holding Hana back, is Hana

Agreed, her "controversial tweets" and her dad is basically no big deal if she can consistently put out more content. She's more than capable of pulling big if she's really trying but sadly she doesn't want to. She does very minimal streaming schedule, plays debuff games, doesn't do collab even with NijiEN, purposely alienate herself from EN vtuber sphere. That's not the reason. The reason is HoloID being a bootleg HoloEN, as they have less indo audience than NijiID. They HAVE to collab with HoloEN and HoloJP and do mostly EN content, because otherwise their numbers will fall below NijiID's.

Sometimes I genuinely wonder how Hana hasn't graduated yet. Not "huge" but growth has been seen. Mika is a prime example of that. She's been active with the en girls and guys and her Twitter followers and subscribers have shot up since then. Nijisanji does a terrible job of advertising their ID branch despite constantly releasing new waves for it, just about the only way for their livers to get picked up by any sort of algorithm is to get noticed by EN, which Hana actively avoids

Because Hololive specifically treats their fans much better than normal Twitch streamers do. Nijis less so, and indies don't treat them better at all, but that doesn't change the fact that Hololive has set a higher bar that people now expect from everyone else, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's like how black people were okay with being called "niggers" until the Civil Rights Movement woke them up to their mistreatment and told them that they deserved better.
