>>15800240I actually was just coming to postulate something like this. Don't have Youtube Premium, never membered, subscribed to 2 Holos, 2 Nijis, 2 small corpos, never created a channel to comment, usually but not always leave a like. Firefox with Disconnect and DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials on all this time. I tested on some 0views and found out:
With adblock and without logging in, it looks like I count for about 10 seconds.
Without adblock and without logging in, it looks like I count for about 30 seconds.
With or without adblock, but logged in, I count as a viewer. Tabbing out doesn't seem to affect anything, but I didn't test yet with multiple videos playing (because I don't do that myself).
While counted as a viewer when logged in, I noticed that there was a "waiting room cull" happening even on those 0 view streams all of which had been going on when I joined. For a nature cam that had been going on since the 1st of November, the issue was solved within a minute. But for a game stream that had started a couple of minutes prior, it seemed to take longer, but I couldn't be sure, because there might have been some others joining to watch as there were some random bumps; on a stream that had gone on for 13 hours the cull time seemed closer to the nature cam. However, I realized this just now and should be going to sleep so I wasn't able to investigate it properly. It would make sense if bigger streams take more time to process, but also longer streams already have been through the viewers or else are already in the database somehow that I'm too tired to figure out. It could also be that I got culled when I wasn't logged in, and was just too impatient as I somehow didn't think of this possibility. I'm also tired and maybe spewing shit, but for what it's worth if someone wants to pursue this thread while I sleep.
