>>16152347Mainstream culture, yes. Pre-facebook online culture was kino. Except for the dramaniggers and Dramaticatards. I guess I should say male online culture was based, not that tween girl gossiping bullshit or LiveJournal wangst. Gamer culture was bangin', predators and all, because it was a wild west where people were free and everyone was only ever responsible for themself. There were no trust and safety councils back then because we didn't have nor need any trust nor safety. Truly it was the best of times.
Why, I even remember when Phoenix browser was a thing. Back then the Firefox brand was the new hotness, back before Chrome became the new Internet Explorer. Also, fuck internet explorer. Toolbars are cancer. Meanwhile, AOL revolutionized the online browser GUI standard away from drab gray to something with a bit more color. God I miss those login tones. Going online was a pain in the ass, but it still felt hype every time you connected. What was I talking about again?
Oh yeah, 90s and 2000s online culture was a fun time to be on the net, and also saw the beginning of the true western anime boom back before social justice warriors and activists ever even knew how to use a computer. It was the golden age of online culture, right up until Facebook enticed all the normalfags online and they threw a shit fit because the internet wasn't family friendly. Really makes you think that the their lives are worthless except as slaves.
Unfortunately, I don't think a chuba could ever come out as admitting to liking any of that culture without debuffing themselves. Modern social media is all about control, compliance, and protecting the chillunz. There's no going back. It's over. At least we'll always have flash based brick breaking games, toonami with original and best Tom who openly disparaged women, madness combat, snes, sega genesis, playstation, and best of all the Dreamcast. Fuck, I miss the Dreamcast. Vtubers will never understand what it's like to be this based.
