It depends. Adventure Mode is more roguelike but Fortress Mode is more like a simulator. If she's playing Adventure Mode then yeah, it's a roguelike I suppose

Depends how strict a definition you use for 'roguelike'. Sandbox games where you're not grabbing shit and escaping (Like you do in NetHack, ADOM, DCSS, Angband, etc.) isn't considered roguelikes by some

Grabbing shit and escaping doesn't define if it's a roguelike or not, gameplay mechanics do. If I'd take original Rogue, remove the goal and make it just an endless dungeon crawl, it would still be the same game gameplay-wise.

because there are "roguelikes" (procedural dungeons, no meta progress except what you, the player, learn yourself) and "roguelites" (procedural elements with meta progress codified into the game) and people conflate the two because they can't read and don't see these are different words.

Some tilesets are good. I can't remember any of them by name but the ones that only change the unit's and building's fonts are pretty good

I remember some recording on that DF playback site where someone modded the temperature and breed rate of cats or some shit, placed 2 cats in an area, then played and there was this explosion of fiery cat birth-death spreading outwards.
I wish I remembered what that site was.
