>>1627237ok, first of all your self promotion is transparent enough to really sort of give yourself a bad image. posting anonymously about your channel as if there is some sort of groundswell of interest is just bad marketting, something that might have worked in the 90s but it doesn't work anymore. people know when someone isn't particularly popular and the promotion for that person is disproportionate to the fandom. it makes potential watchers irritated and opposed. not interested in trying.
A better option would be to post transparently as yourself, if your channel is struggling then use a sense of humor about it. post as yourself talking about other vtubers. the idea is simply to NOT look like you're marketting your channel, while nakedly and ironically marketting your channel.
Next, don't shamelessly rip someone else's gimmick, especially the single most popular vtuber out there. furthermore there are countless anime-animal-girls, gura's own gimick isn't really much of one in the first place. She's not popular because shark girls are popular. she's popular because she's fun to watch, her design matches her acted personality, and when it doesn't it creates a gap-moe effect.
There is nothing wrong with being a trans-woman vtuber. I'm sure you're struggling thinking this might be why. No, it isn't, but I would have gone with a cute girl wearing a frog-hoodie/pj. Why? because frogs can change gender biologically after birth. Heck a butterfly-girl would have worked as well (the whole catipillar to butterfly life transition would have been a fun play on it as well). I would have made the avatar special to yourself, even if it's a bit on the nose. this way you could be MORE of yourself.
Next, take Mori's advice. Make more content. the more content you make the better you get at it. Not everyone is instantly good at this. Think about all the youtubers and twitch streamers who are out there, that all do lets plays. now think about how few actually are any good or popular. as the vtuber crowd gets bigger the competition gets higher. If you aren't good at lets plays, get better. If you aren't good at comedy timing, get better, if you suck singing get better, if you suck drawing, get better. You're going to have to stand out from the crowd. and the only way to do that is to get good enough to be entertaining at what you're doing.
you might look at gura's drawing streams and wonder what the heck she's doing. she's terrible at it right? wrong. She's actually rather good at drawing. she's pretending to suck (speaking as a former artist, it's clear she is actually a fairly good artist). to suck like she sucks takes skill. she's threading the needle, being interesting WHILE being bad. it's a hard tact to take. but it's part of her child-like gimmick so it works (plus she's a good enough artist to be EPIC bad)
I saw a couple of your videos before writing this, and frankly, you got nothing that will bring me back. you're not funny, you're not great at games... look at coco, she does a news/interview gimmick. it's actually rather smart, it allows her to plan her streams like a tv show. this lets her escape the lets play traps most people fall into.
so
1) be yourself, not someone else
2) make more content
3) get better at being yourself so that you become interesting to watch
4) watch better content creators to learn what you're not good at
