• Stagnation of content. Streaming is for collecting rent, but it's not the best form of video content. Short form video or audio only GFE slice of life content is.
• Stagnation of format. Live2D is old and busted. The market's moved onto expecting Live3D as a more polished, streamlined and accessible version of the original high budget method of animating a 3D vtuber. Live2D was always supposed to be a stopgap, not a stopping point.
• EN branch having incompetent management, which results in the total sum of EN's content looking like a chimkin with its head cut off running around doing different things. People expected the JP experience, where management was actively involved in molding the Holos into idols worthy of unicorns.
• Hiring vtubers who aren't unironic weebs. Hololive JP fans didn't want a bootleg version that pandered to western culture and sensibilities. The unironic anime fandom has always held the line on not drastically changing what fans of japanese entertainment like to appeal to normal everyday people whose sensibilities are the exact opposite of the pre-existing fanbase.
• Male collabs. They're an insult to male fans, and even Hololive JP is guilty of this. Nobody with any self respect wants their virtual girlfriend to cheat on them.
• Insisting on using platforms that require content to be censored and dumbed down for children such that it alienates and bores grown men. Swimsuit streams never again.
• HoloStars existing as part of the same company, as well as using the same office and equipment as my oshi.
• Coco trying to westernize Hololive, which completely backfired and caused trouble for everyone including herself.
• Hololive not graduating Ollie for what she did on an all ages stream in front of children. Truly cynical.
• Gura thirsting after Vox on stream.
• Mori's podcast appearances, male collabs, and making a critikal reference on stream, which shows she has little respect for her fans and is just using them as an ATM. Still working independently as her past life is basically a deal breaker.
• Vtubers cynically lying about not having boyfriends. Yes, I expect my oshi to be as unsexed as I am.
• Neverending permissions arc reducing the amount of playable games to things I've already seen and/or don't want to watch.
• Nepotism beyond all reason without any experience or performance requirements
• 3 out of 5 council vtubers coming off as inauthentic and unmotivated
• Hiring vtubers who can't perform up to the standards of the lore you've written.
• Writing lore that no rank amateur could ever live up to.
• Holostars EN
• Omega
• Haachama trying to interact with EN while slacking on properly learning English.
• Irys being botched, and also having excessive unironic lore to the point where it really is cringe. Lore is supposed to be relatively simple and tongue in cheek. Not ironic, but more like trivia tidbits than anything else.
• Irys singing in English.
• Ina insulting fans.
• HoloMyth numberfagging on /vt/.
• Gura not living up to my expectations of a late 80s pandering city pop shark. I will never get the time invested back.
• Chimkin voice.
• Ame not learning Japanese, or even trying to use DeepL during Japanese collabs despite Mel doing exactly that. Why even apply to work for a Japanese company if you don't plan on learning Japanese? If the answer is "money," greed doesn't exactly come off as a virtue.
• Insufficient amount of collabs with other non-Hololive vtubers (including JP livers) who are acceptable by unicorn standards.
• Risu and Iofi still using high pitched fake voices last I checked (which was admittedly a while ago).
• Moona slacking on her Japanese reps.
• Reine disappearing people.
• Anya not getting a better English speaking accent.
• What appears to be poor treatment of the token American in their JP branch, regardless of her incompetence. Unless the whole thing was a farce to justify getting out of her contract, in which case I don't like that they made a such deceitful spectacle.
• Polka, Lamy and Botan making fun of working class people
• Botan mercilessly insulting someone who gave her money because he expected her to adhere to the standards of an idol.
• HoloX receiving better treatment than Hololive EN despite EN's explosive growth.
And that's just off the top of my head, in no particular order.
