>>16468096It's not her fault. Apex Legends was intentionally designed to be as addictive as possible.
The "Engagement Based Matchmaking" algorithm manipulates your feelings by deciding whether it wants you to win or lose next game. It does this by giving you teammates of pre-determined skill levels depending on the intended result. It's based on scientifically researched patterns of win/losses which make players want to keep playing, similar to gambling machines.
The game also has the easiest pre-diamond laddering system of any competitive game (you can basically keep climbing towards platinum no matter what as long as you play enough games), giving you the illusion of becoming a better player.
However, once you reach diamond, the game decides that you are now fully addicted and will keep playing no matter what. Therefore you become the "cannon fodder" for lobbies filled with pros and the most skilled grandmaster players to make youtube/twitch content off of. The only way to continue climbing at that point is to make the most selfish, most cowardly plays (ignoring teammates fights unless you can get a cheap kill, and ratting until the last circle), or to be a god in mechanical skill.
The journey ultimately ends in burning out and feeling worthless after realising you will never reach the level of mechanics and decision making that is required to get to the top ranks.
lol that rant was way longer than I intended it to be and no one is probably gonna read this
