As I become increasingly disillusioned with the EN vtubing scene, I’m wondering if I should learn nipponese already and find safe harbor there. Is it worth the effort?

If it's because it's fun and entertaining? Yes, Japanese is super fun and the Vtubers great. But somebody who comes for a mythical holy grail of perfection will always find disappointment and sadness instead of appreciate the fun that exists

as someone who has a good understanding of Japanese, the Good Japanese Vtubers are much better than the good EN Vtubers, with Gura being the anomaly when it comes to zatsudan and singing, where she is pretty equal in her own way.

Japanese isn’t super hard, but I wouldn’t recommend learning it the way autists here do. Personally I studied it for 3 semesters in university and the focus on speaking/listening/grammar there was a lot better for comprehension than the pointless kanji memorization people here will tell you to do. I’d really recommend getting some kind of instructor because of that
