He's partially right. Compare Miko's views and subscribers before her GTA clip blew up to her channel after. The western fanbase also obviously helped out Coco and other JPs to a huge extent. Hololive actually wasn't that big until the westoid fans started getting into them, look at their numbers as soon as the eops started supporting them and look at their numbers before that huge spike.

The Chinese actually were the ones who saved Hololive before they threw their temper tantrum.
Even now, the Taiwanese and Hong Kong (and Chinese hoping to blend in and not be associated with the mainlanders), along with Indonesia + the rest of SEA forms 40% of the audience.
Meanwhile NA only forms 10%.
