What people are drawn to, generally, is the avatar. not the person you can't see. Calliope Mori isn't that person's real name, it's the name of the character.
So. With this newfound knowledge, it shouldn't be hard to grasp the concept that you can't date Calliope for the same reason you can't date a regular cartoon character.
