>>17099310You see a while back there'd been rumblings from certain "spheres" in the vtuber community that certain underground, niche fandoms had latched on to this hobby. The examples we got involved gun nuts, foreign spies, actual fucking terrorists, pedos (as you said), serial killers, the works. They usually gather in vtuber chatrooms and speak codeto communicate with each other.
Now one day, the rumor goes around that Calliope Mori of Hololive EN had actual cuckolds using her chat as a space to advertise and plan out swinging parties, which got whistleblown sometime last year (i dont really know this, but a friend did tell me on discord). When it came up, there were threads on /vt/, reddit, wherever, but they were swiftly shut down, and deleted, in a wave that seemed way too concerted and organized that it made people think it was not just Cover being Cover, but actual fucking people in power putting pressure on social media and hiroshimoot to shut this shit down.
As soon as people realized that, they got to analyzing the other communities, and there found other niche interests also using vtuber chats as clandestine forum posts. Takanashi Kiara had neo-nazis and white supremacists, Ninomae Ina'nis had users linked to the CCP, etc., to name a few. And Gawr Gura, coincidentally (or maybe not), got the pedo rings.
All of it is ancient history at this point because these fandoms caught on and either moved on to find other avenues, or were able to change up their code words so they don't get sussed out so easily.
