Male chuubas are a thing beacuse Japan as a culture is actually used to the idea of males as entertainers in host clubs, and not as in just gigolos, but they are literally pretend friends for lonely women (and they do NOT put out instantly, they are not supposed to be sex workers and this is what baffles dudes in the West) and they get paid assloads of money for it. If you haven't heard of a host club that's what it is, that's what the target audience is. It's NOT (you). This is also explicitly why Niji's male EN branch is successful, it IS NOT a success in the West, it's a success in the East.
