So what happened to Sony's VTuber branch?

This is not a shitposting/numberfagging/bait thread, I just haven't kept up with them at all and I hardly see them posted here so I'm trying to understand what, ostensibly, went wrong.

There are already a lot of vtubers, especially in Japan. There's nothing notable about these and people don't have time to follow another group if they're already following Hololive, Nijisanji, or the other half dozen major vtuber companies or dozens of minor ones.
