It would've been fine if they were their own thing to satisfy the fujo and gay audience, but since they are one and the same with the girls (who built the branch by themselves and clawed their way out of a hole, only to be redelegated to second class decorations for the guys) to me NijiEN is just "the company you watch if you're homosexual." That's so obviously its main focus and purpose I can't see how it could be denied, and the girls collab with these dudes and so I as a guy have no reason whatsoever to watch them.
Hololive and its idols ARE the alternative. THEY are the counterculture, THEY are unique. And it's a shame that Cover itself fails to grasp this. We crave the illusion of pure idols and anything other than that is just a step in the wrong direction, a generic, soulless and cowardly direction.
