I think to be good and also have your VTuber be your real self, you need to be honest about having a partner and draw lines between you and chat, actually love your chat like a boyfriend and not cheat on them, or if you are lonely, don't lead them on by drawing those lines. Or you could just play a character and make it clear you are.
There are plenty of VTubers who just play their real selves. If you imagine that their core audience would be upset if they got a partner, maybe it is the VTuber's fault? For corpos where they are obligated to not say they have a partner, the blame can be passed to their company sometimes, but it still doesn't make it right.
Granted, Kana does seem to be drawing a line between her and chat finally, saying she doesn't want people who see her as more than just a stranger in her community, but she still did the things she did that attracted those people and subsequently hurt them. She is also to blame.
