The obligation of an idol is to care about their fans. Now, since these days are special, you "prove" to your fans that they are special to you.
However, if you weasel your way out of it you pretty much tell your fans that you do not care about them and rather be selfish by spending the day with someone else. May that be friends, family or their bf.
Now, while they may just do the above to adhere to the obligation instead of actually being fond of their fans is another thing, they still care. They care enough to limit their social life. They do not see you as a given, as someone to easily throw away.
As to why (You) would care if some internet person doing this may be because (You) are a schizo, but that doesn't really matter.
