I could see Mori doing it first. While I imagine singing in a non-native language would require a lot of practice from Gura, Mori has more verses and is probably more familiar with the song as a whole. Though honestly, I got the impression that Mori and Gura were supposed to go back and forth throughout the entire song sharing the hook and verses, but in the end they decided to just do a hard split, so maybe Gura can do the other parts and we just don't know it.

Honestly I think that what is getting Mori down more than anything is that "Freedom" in the entertainment industry is just a meme. Everybody, even the megastars is held down by something, it may be their label/studio or it may be the fans buying stuff or for indies its being monetary constraints. That's fair sorry didn't mean to phrase it like that, I dunno just feeling a bit disappointed. It's like going to a good steakhouse and eating good for a long time but then you take a friend to eat there and they're all out of steak.
I think DECO could've done better with Gura on it and that maybe the process shoulda had a bit more time in the oven.

It didn't help that its "HoloEN's two best musical talents collabing" on top of already being delayed to make it "perfect" driving up people's expectations that it will be "The best HoloEN song ever". If this version of the song released in December like most thought I think people's thoughts would be less double-sided. People always go to that Miyamoto quote "A delayed game is eventually good" but a delay will raise expectations in turn and there comes a point where expectations will exceed what a product can possibly deliver no matter how many passes it gets.

I feel that fits the prospective Inamori song better. It fits Ina's personality and singing style better for a slower and more mellow song. Takamori song will probably sound more High energy Pop as that is Kiara's taste.

So Moris flow on the first verse feels like she tried to fit too many words into it. It doesn't really fit in with the rest and the last couple of words are spat out in a way that makes them hard to understand.
The video doesn't have subtitles on screen or in the closed captioning despite it being like 60% Japanese.

The chorus is the weakest part of it "don't bite the hand that feeds you if it's holding a knife. Still gotcha tongue tied? I guess you better give me your life"
There's 0 things that are memorable about that. It doesn't even sound good on paper. It reminds me of what the kids in my high school would write for "raps"

Even people talking about how they liked it say that the first verse isnt good mainly towards the end where she just kinda tries to throw a lot of words out in a short period of time and the music choice just doesn't go that well with that choice of rap style.

Honestly my biggest gripe is with how bad the chorus is both lyrically and flow wise. It doesn't go well with the rest of the song, but the first verse is also kinda weak.

FINALLY! I've been looking for a way to express what exactly I feel is off about it and this is as close as I can get to really expressing it in words.

I like Mori as much as the next guy but I just don't think this is the best expression of either hers or Guras talents and I'm not sure if that's all because of DECO or something but I just feel kinda shorted by it. Hopefully the next release is better

I don't get the feeling that it was meant to be a 'punchy' song, regardless of what the MV portrays. But that's just my impression.

I think my only real criticism is what others have said about the first verse being too verbose. Its something she tends to do a lot. Aside from that, I quite like it overall.

It is a weird problem cause the song isn't exactly about much. If she had a real idea to convey I can understand some scuff. In fact that can work well with a song that has a message as it can portray a certain mindset. But the song is more a fun high octane anime op, in which case you aren't bound by much. It could just be garbled nonsense like a Lotus Juice track where the goal is more just having words that fit the beat. I don't think that is where Mori is strongest though, she's best when writing about something.

Anon my issue with this criticism is how shallow it is. Both of Mori's rap verses speed up dramatically in the second half where she throws out a lot of words in a short period of time. But your issue is only with the first verse. I don't even entirely disagree with the criticism, I think the more simple word choice and her enunciation results in the lyrics blurring together at the greater speed as opposed to the second verse where at the end she arguably over enunciates monstrous making it distinctly clear despite the increased tempo. However the lack of clarification results in your criticism functionally amounting to being "It's bad cause there's a lot of fast words" On face value that's just a (You) problem.
Similarly the criticism of Mori's english chorus is also shallow, basically amounting to you just thinking it's cringe. And I really have no confidence that you could explain how it doesn't fit the flow of the song.

I'm the same anon. I do think that the chorus is amateurish because I've seen better from Mori herself. She can do better than "don't bite the hand that feeds if it has a knife" like seriously, do you really think that's a standout line looking back through her catalogue as Mori alone you can see that even at the beginning of her career as Mori with "Excuse My Rudeness" the almost chuuni chorus fit the song perfectly and still makes me grin.

In songs like Cursed Night even you can see that the chorus fits and the rap style works. In "Q" it just doesn't. I'm not sorry for pointing out that it doesn't even rhyme very well, it's meaning is kinda conveyed but in an almost childish way. It's not good.

It's more that in the end of the first verse there's absolutely no room to breathe or anything like that, it takes maybe a second before Gura picks up again immediately, making the verse feel crowded and over extended. The second verse she picks up speed but when she goes "it's over...for you...hahaha" there's a noticable break between when her vocals end and Guras vocals start. Yes and no. Saying "I don't like Q" is a perfectly valid statement on its own and requires no further explanation but it also doesn't allow discussion. That's just your opinion and nobody can take it away from you but you can't also impose it on others unless you're a huge faggot.
