>>17757921I tried doing it myself once months back real quick for comparison, actually this was originally to shit on the fact she has a full page of pointless filler nobody remembers for her lore in comparison to the usual Holo style of it being literally 1-2 sentences and not really mattering. I just went and tried to match her a bit closer to Mel visually as well for emphasis. What I learned from that was actually, I think her mouth is pretty well-shaped/placed for her face. It just has a kind of odd looking pointedness to it when she opens it combined with the kind of dark/discolored demon teeth just plain looks fucking ugly vs the usual simple open both with a line for teeth/blob for tongue.
Other things I think just don't need to be there or make her worse -
- The bangs are translucent and frayed up in the front. they literally look greasy as a result, in large part from discoloring to brown tones vs the purple of the hair. I didn't even attempt to fix their ugly frayed shape here and just made them purple.
- Chuuni heterochromia desu eyes, has this ever actually-helped a Holo design? Marine and Luna have them but they're much simpler than Irys and she's already got a bunch of weird OC donut shit going on to need them as a feature (as opposed to on Luna who would look more generic without them, they just push Irys' design over into DeviantArt territory overdone).
- Skin tone is desaturated, like outright. Irys seems to have fixed this as she is visibly a bit more pale but more importantly, more saturated to have an actual live-looking tone now. She went from looking like a sick gobin to having a glowing tan.
- The nose isn't bad in theory but just is not the usual design and looks weird in motion, like a giant zit. Defined nostrils to me is also like a hentai nose to be frank but maybe that's just me.
