It's a post Fall story and follows the perspective of Naoki Hayashi as he is forced to become a Mortan while also staying under the radar and away from hunter groups like the CMC or Reidefell.
Mortans are basically people planted with a Symbiote. This can either be from eating a Mortis fruit, being infected by a Matriarch or by consuming certain special drugs that create the Septis variant.
Each Mortan has varying levels of symbiosis with their host, some are in complete control and others its more 50/50. Finding a balance is difficult. Also Mortans are hard to kill, most form a strong exoskeleton armour and can produce psionic weapons. They also mainly eat brains but will settle for the flesh too.
