Everyone in the world understands from a moral perspective Taiwan and Hong Kong are independent countries, just as they did with Tibet and many other places. But asking people to recognize it as such is retarded because the only outcome of real global recognition of their status as independent is a war. A war in which most of them will die. Better to just stay quiet. China has literally no control over Taiwan, they don't even share a border.
