I took what

I'd still like to put something about schizos, the green/grey schizm, clandestine incursions from other threads, bear paws and some Minecraft stuff among other things. I'm curious about your thoughts. As for the flag, I think it would be a good idea to figure out some general characteristics and vote on them in a more active stream thread.
Once an island inhabited by roaming savages, /yah/ was discovered by a independent Japanese polar bear adrift from the mainland. Marooned on the island and searching for shelter, the polar bear named Kumagai Chisato soon captured the attention of the savages. In a stroke of luck, the savages became fascinated by her presence and rather than attack her on sight they took her in as their daughter. Beatani, as she asked to be called, was an inspiration to the savages and soon the new family founded XP Hill, a city set atop its namesake. This journey would later become something of a pilgrimage, with followers of Beatani reverently following her footsteps.
The new civilization grew and developed quickly, and soon the fledgling republic discovered oil and became wealthy. Following the example of their daughter, many citizens, known amongst themselves as Dads, started practicing art and before long a booming arts and crafts sector emerged. These works of art and other creative endeavors make the /yah/ Republic a strong exporter of culture, though visitors will also find many appealing works imported from overseas with oil money.
The governing structure is a republic in name, a cult in reputation and anarchy in practice. While in theory all dads are equal under the law, there are persistent rumors of an "Inner Circle" with closer access to Beatani. To her cult-like devotees this is unforgivable and any perception of preferential treatment, real or imagined, causes massive infighting among the citizens of the Republic. This makes a governing hierarchy almost impossible to maintain, so in practice most decisions are arrived at with general consensus with occasional guidance from Beatani rather than any formal process. To the outsider it may seem like consequential decisions are determined by whim, and in many respects this is the case. Despite this, /yah/ is mostly cohesive and will unite quickly against any external threats. Some dads feel that the Republic is too wary of outside civilizations and should try to form alliances with other nations, but this is often met with skepticism.
