Life presents incredibly complex and nuanced problems to each of us, and the solutions to said problems are just as obscure.
Each man and woman must learn to fight and defeat his own demons to prosper and move forward and yet some are faced with battles they could never hope to win on their own.
If they enjoy Vtubers, as parasocial as it may be, then so be it. That's honestly not the point here.
The issue is the difficulty in accepting the truth about their situation. People think embracing the truth of why they do some of their less reputable hobbies will make them hate themselves but it's actually the opposite; accepting that you need and enjoy this parasocial relationship is the first step to growing beyond it.
It's throwing ridiculous amounts of money which you likely had to work hard for at them without thinking which is the problem. Use this whole thing as a way to cope while you try to heal yourself and fix your issues. It doesn't ever need to leave either, you don't ever need to give up watching Gura act like a total dumbass trying to evade the feds, but rather you need to understand that watching her do this and enjoying it is only happening because you're starved socially of meaningful human interaction and relationships. And that's normal, in this day and age. Especially in this day and age. You may never get out that situation. But maintaining this wilful blindness to the reality of that is what's causing you to suffer. Not the thing itself - but how you choose to react to and manage that thing.
It means having fun and letting yourself enjoy the stream but also knowing that there's little point in spending thousands on merch. If you want a shirt they sell by all means go get it, but don't blow absurd amounts of cash or dedicate your life to one of these people; it's not worth it, nor is it healthy.
tl;dr: face the reality of why you're here and accept it. It is excruciating but learning to come to terms with reality allows you better influence it.
