>>200670>I'll be honest I kinda don't understand the point in this sentence. It's not about controlling urges, there's a wide variety of people and laws and morals, all things in life are varying shades of gray instead of black and white. Grooming is much closer towards the middle of that "gray" than serial killers, so naturally more people will overlook it or even justify it when it's convenient for them.
>I think the segments would be vaguely the same and people in power stand up for both but this again goes into /pol/schizo territory like magic hangings in jail with cameras magically being broken.Hard disagree here, but it's mostly based on how normalized child grooming is in western society and culture. You don't end up with a culture of every rich 60+ year old man dating barely-legal teenagers without a culture of pedophilia to raise them into that and excuse it just because it's "legal" when it's still sick and perverse and exploitative.
>For me it's again /pol/ topic going into conspiracy theories whether theres elite grooming rings but I'll just say that most pedo shit usually gets "debunked". This is my personal thoughts but I feel like grooming can leak way easier than murder and most people with shit to risk wouldn't engage into it out of fear of getting caught.Popular people like streamers getting caught being groomers and people not caring just feels like a big part of parasocial relations where average person doesn't think he could do anything bad.
The thing is a lot of those cases aren't debunked at all, particularly the ones I referenced, but society excuses them by just not talking about them and sweeping them under the rug whenever it's inconvenient and spreading lies about the victims like calling them sluts etc to discredit them. I don't think most of society genuinely believes x famous person is incapable of doing wrong, they just don't think it's a big deal because "everyone else who is rich and powerful does it". That's very different to how they respond to serial killers, where the perpetrator will just be completely blacklisted by humanity.
If you're someone with the urge to groom and rape little girls then it's probably tempting to try to spin a lie that lets you sweep it under the rug or blackmail the victim, because it could work, and has worked for others in the past. Many politicians and public figures get credibly accused and just muddy the waters by saying it's a smear campaign by the opposition or their "haters" and most people will believe it and move on. Many average people do the same and have it work by manipulating the right people in their lives to protect themselves.
That's just not true for guro fetishists, no one gets away with that shit in the public eye. If someone accuses you of being a serial killer then the police will come raid your garage looking for bodies. It's not romanticized or excused by anyone in the same way Elvis Presley being a child groomer is as just a relic of the times he lived in.
