>>19373039>>19373122I recently changed employers and I'm unironically one bad day from walking out again. Every manager in heavy diesel is a fucking retard. They're obsessed with saving pennies to the point they let multi-million £ machines run for thousands of hours past their service intervals till they fail completely and junk the machines.
The phrase "Machine is (x) hours past due for (y) service" is one I write up probably 5 times a day. They don't get serviced, they only come in when they actually break. For the cost of taking a machine offline for 12 hours to service it they're costing themselves £4m replacing it after 3 years.
I might unironically go back to driving a delivery van, it's not that much less money and when the van blows up it's not me that has to fix it anymore. At least when I was driving the vans I (occasionally) got a lunch break where I could watch VODs
I sent a van back out the door 3 weeks ago with 26,700 miles past service due because the workshop manager wouldn't authorise a £38 service. That vans probably 40 grand to replace, and it's the cheapest thing in the fleet.
