You were lamenting, among other things, that it didn't really have anything to do with Ame, but I don't think it's especially detached from Ame. Covers often don't really have anything to do with the singer.
Sometimes there's some aesthetic connection, but sometimes not. Ame likes vocaloid, so there's that spiritual connection at least.
