>>19417016>Alcoholics live in a state of extreme denial so confronting them with their alcoholism makes them very butthurt. Maybe Mori is in denial, but I think you're mixing up denying being an alcoholic with alcoholism being a bigger problem than sobriety, which is the other big reason alkies get butthurt when you confront them.
I fucking HATE the 5 days of the week I don't drink because of every fucking social interaction with other humans, awareness of every Sisyphean effort and work and I would never will myself to do if not for the threat of no roof over my head, complete disinterest in hobbies that are socially acceptable, so and so forth. I don't drink on workdays because I value the lives of others more than mine and will sacrifice that much, that's it.
So when someone "confronts me with my alcoholism," I admit it and agree it's a problem. Any more pestering about seeking help and I'll bring up the former paragraph just to see them suddenly lose interest or get aggressive when the usual retort of "therapy" or "church" has already been tried a dozen times before.
I'm more profoundly dysfunctional than merely being an alcoholic, that's just the best coping mechanism for the former that society actually offers.
