My 1% came from the fact that there’s roughly 300m people in America, 100m of those are probably within the age range to watch vtubers and if they have 1m active fans, that’s 1%. This stream was a secret so no fan would’ve been looking out for them as a group.

Thats not quite right because the vtuber audience is not that global, 95% of fans are concetrated in a dozen or so countries like the US and Japan. In any case the actual chance is much lower than 1% because most people ignore everyone around them and unless you know your oshis face with minute detail you have to rely on them happening to speak within earshot and you paying attention at the time.
