I quit watching VTubers. I'm done.

Hi.
A long time ago, I've heard of this catgirl that played FPS games really well, her name's Nekomiya Hinata. It was around the time PUBG launched. She was pretty good at the game, and was having fun. People said it was fake, but I didn't care. It was entertaining. The rabbit hole wasn't even a concept at that point. Some time passed, and then I've started watching VTubers religiously ever since matsuri's band-aid clip got viral, like many older people in the community. It has been a lot of fun to interact with these genuinely interesting streamers that have very strong personalities and constantly manages to weird you out while at the same time being inoffensive, somehow. (I swear that's a compliment.)

Started exercising because of Korone. Got to know some of SEA cultures thanks to holoID and Filipino clippers. Saw some of my all time favorites make a comeback in holoEN, three times. Added a new favorite Yunomi song to my playlist thanks to Marine. Learned to not stop trying new things thanks to Coco. Got to enjoy media with my family thanks to Hana Macchia and her Dad. Learned what a healthy friendship looks like thanks to Okayu. Got to have some idea of how extroverts do and don't work thanks to Selen and Subaru. And learned to not give up thanks to the great ones like holo gen0 and Nekomiya Hinata, whom may not be making big numbers, but is still going strong.

There has been many positives. I had a lot of fun and learned as well. Of course, not everything is perfect. Recently, it has been getting progressively more harmful to me. I don't study. I don't play games. I don't even watch anime or movies. Just sitting all day watching VTubers livestreams and clips, getting anxious about problems that don't have anything to do with me because of VTubers, big and small, disrespecting their fans and colleagues left and right. Even if I'm not one of those fans who go ham for knowing their oshi is interacting with a IRL man, I feel the despair from both sides, streamer and fanbase. This has gotten to the point where it is hurting me. It has to stop.

This isn't a sudden decision caused by the many recent events, though they certainly play a big part in this. Maybe, just like some of them, I just need to take a break. Have a taste of what is like to live on the other side again. Make my way up the rabbit hole.

tl;dr watching too much VTubers is making me anxious, depressed and holding back my life

You're free to print and repost. I believe all fans should re-evaluate if this is healthy.
