The top seems like a bitch and a half to make but I think you can deconstruct it if you take your time... if you take a good look over it it's not physically impossible or anything, just a gigantic chore to actually put on.
I think the biggest problem here is that you're going to go through the trouble of making this insanely complex top, and then there's no way to make transparent plastic look anything other than incredibly tacky IRL.
