Mostly irrelevant though, since they only have 20k members on the subreddit compared to almost 300k for Hololive.

It's the bone of the joint near the ear that gets dislocated, or maybe fractured, and sometimes when you open your mouth it locks in place. I know because I've had it myself since getting kicked in the jaw in middle school, but it got better with time.

Often times when you go to get wisdom teeth removed, the orthodontist is a total hack and will overextend your jaw when prepping the surgery, causing damage.
I know people whose jaw clicks when they eat food because of such a scenario. Others have naturally bad jaw alignment (or whatever the fuck.) For me, sometimes I strain my jaw when I yawn, from overextension, perhaps.
Either way, I hope she doesn't have that happen again.

Being "anything-only" is pretty damn stupid because the VTuber world has so much crossovers. They're just confining themselves to a small bubble.

To be fair, being Niji-only is just as bad. If someone is, say, a Kuzuha fan but haven't been following LVG's Ichinose or Animare's Ran then they missed out on a great Kuzuha moment that's been blowing up recently, or at least lack the proper context to fully appreciate it.

I think for a lot of people the idol thing doesn't specifically appeal to them. If you look in other western communities outisde of 4chan at least you will see a whole range of attitudes, people that tolerate it and make excuses for it when the unpleasant side of it rears its head, people that treat it as a giant meme and others that outright ask for more male female collabs in hololive especially with the holostars and get a decent amount of support in that.

I really think that is a big part of it, if you really want to keep EOPs watching your Japanese language streams you are going to have to throw them a bone every now and then to keep their interest and try respond to a comment or something. I don't think it even needs to be much, Chima seems to get quite a lot of foreign listeners even, it being singing mostly probably does help, but she also makes the small effort to say thanks for listening in English as well as Japanese between songs.

Nijisanji just finished up with their EN auditions and will be debuting in 3 months time.
They mostly picked out female talent, all of which who have some VTubing experience.
You'll most likely recognize a few voices if you keep up with western VTubers, and they're planning to absorb all the popular western VTubers eventually.

On this site at least there is a lot of animosity towards nijisanji due to the /jp/ thread and the fact that japanese nijisanji fans hurt hololive in a lot of ways (whether or not you believe that is true doesn't matter, that's the prevailing opinion on this site). Outside of here, they were both unlucky but also dropped the ball themselves. Hololive blew the fuck up in the west due to various reasons and that's where the vast majority of fansubbing and discussion is in the west. It also doesn't help that they ignored the English-speaking market and/or only half-heartedly threw them some bones. Now that holoEN has proven that there is a large market, they are scrambling to get a piece of that pie with their own real EN branch, a subreddit, employing translators and buying ads on youtube. Sadly, I believe the train has already left the station. Momentum is hugely important and Nijisanji has barely any in the west. Their EN branch might become mildly successful, but I doubt it will live up to the expectations of the suits at ichikara.

You'll struggle to get a proper full picture of Nijisanji if you don't know at least some japanese. Unlike Hololive, there isn't a major clip culture around it. There is, however, extensive secondary material in the form of a massive Nijisanji wiki on the internet. It's in japanese, but it's more than enough to get a newbie started.

The /jp/ threads are full-on current content. Links to ongoing streams, new art etc. The focus isn't so much on discussion and speculation. Newbies that ignore the old "lurk moar" rule of 4chan tend to enter the threads and ask questions no one can be arsed to answer. Bringing up months old scandals, dragging in weird narratives, requesting streamer recommendations and such. Stuff that has been answered a thousand times before, is easily googled, and/or is just (unintentional) shitposting at its core.

Also what the guy above me said, there was a drive to reduce the tribalism that was shitting up other threads and the board at the time. The Nijisanji thread chose seclusion and gatekeeping so they could be left to enjoy their niche thing in peace. Discussion there is possible, just don't be stupid about it.

They do but it is nowhere near on the same kind of level if you are actually trying to follow someone. Even with members that are more popular with foreigners you can go weeks between there being something new and less popular ones months, can probably find some that have next none even. One channel and thousands of fragmentary clips buried in Youtube, where not even its search function will reliably find them all for you. Clips aren't a sustainable way for an EOP to enjoy Nijisanji content. Too many gaps in the chronology and general knowledge.

What if you wanted to learn more about Yamagami Karuta, for example? She has one dedicated translator managing a couple short videos a month. His work's good, but he's all you get. She's well worth following, but you really have to know japanese to get into her.

I think most of the praise came around 2019-2020 where Nijisanji finally got their shit together, marking the upward spiral from Sasaki's comeback, abolishment of collab bans, train of strong debuts like roa, sanbaka, gibara, and lulu, better handling of sponsors, Deron making it big with Lantis, etc. But there was no denying 2018-early 2019 ichikara was shit.

I'll tell you why I think their initial EN push with the translation channel didn't work. The translators that they took on were dogshit; they were either existing shitty hololive translators looking for a quick buck, or they were too new to understand to know which clips to choose, or both.
Making scream compilations, funny english moments and collab clips without first introducing any of the streamers was never going to work.
They could have literally copied in chronological order the popular clips starting from 2018 and translated them and it would have worked out. And I know the faggot translators from discord and twitter lurk these threads, so maybe they'll read this and take something from it.
