She's a "sister", which is the Lutheran equivalent, but what Protestant religious orders there are don't map exactly to Catholic or Orthodox. For one thing, chastity isn't a requirement, and for another, they can leave at any time as far as I know. Among many other differences. Basically, Abigail (or maybe just her character) is just a very religious layperson, rather than a nun.
