I get invested in my games, and can get a feel for the imaginary spaces. Almost to the point of leaning to and fro like a kid.
I've noticed my excited investment hampers my performance in the game in several ways. If I stay disconnected, it's easier to cheese it. But... it gets to the question of why even play games:
do you play to pretend you're somewhere else? Do you play for the puzzle-exercise of beating something as overwhelmingly as possible? For me, it's the pretend.
