It’s actually still getting some good views but this is sorta similar to what happened with Pekora’s VS vods early on but reverse.

Basically, Pekora had 2 Vampire Survivor streams where the original went full stop, with almost no movement at all aside from maybe 1k a day, but her 2nd stream vod, for god knows why, was literally neck and neck with Gura’s vod, and would not relent at all. It was like a mountain of nousagi’s and tourists watched specifically that one and ONLY that one.

Fast forward to now with Gura, and we see a lot of stalling with her recent ER vod yet her original one is still trucking like mad. It just hit 700k not too long ago and it’s already close to 740k. People are hounding that vod like mad

Pekora’s still in the verification phase right now but it’s not looking the greatest. Usually you’d see big bumps of 7-8k, but her past 2 sets have been 2k and 1k, which outside of songs often means a low total count. Luckily she’s got her core fanbase intact, but man she is losing a ton of her casual audience off these.

The only time I really felt that the main branch really took notice of EN is when Luxiem came in and pretty much broke ground with the SEA Fujo audience. Yeah. I’ve tracked enough to know this vod is going to be really bad not just for the game, but for Pekora’s standards too. This is getting way too reminiscent of her ARK where the frequent streams of it just cleave out a large portion of your viewerbase. This VOD in particular is honestly looking to be a 250-260k VOD tops, if there’s no crazy bump that hasn’t happened yet. And that’s just really poor in comparison to herself and even others who’re in their own set of playthroughs. The only other one that comes to mind who’s doing lukewarm is Miko, but that’s expected. Outside of those tuning in, ain’t no one gonna be catching up on 7 hour vods of fucking judge eyes or whatever it is.

Gura was watching Kiara today so I sincerely hope she’s been practicing. Because what Gura needs is to not have her brain melt the moment a new game turns up on her screen. If she can actually challenge things I could see it going okay for the future.

You remember PekoMoona right? A random Minecraft interaction, leading to more, leading to an actual anime level arc of Moona overcoming her JP insecurities and Pekora learning how to have fun with others - all culminating in an amazing voice chat of epic proportions! (Season 2 coming soon kek)
Or the entire arc where Coco never got to collab with HoloEN or Gen5, but had a bunch of amazing collabs leading up to her graduation, with many emotional highs.
Or the two sports festivals and all the JP-EN interactions that came from it? (Miko-Gura, Miko-Ame in particular stand out).
Or the JP-EN server merger arc where Pekora pranked a bunch of ENs and vice versa?

In the early days of NijiEN, the seeds for this kind of thing were being set up with Kanae and some other JPs interacting with Lazulight on Minecraft, and setting up a similar "arc" let's say. It was fun watching it develop, and there was an anticipation that these seeds would bear fruit in the future.
But then we had 6 more people suddenly put in the group within half a year. The dynamic shifted, and the kept shifting. Storylines became confusing, everyone just started being buddy-buddy randomly with people - giving the audience no idea of who they were, and most of the existing "seeds" let's say - were completely abandoned.
That's what I felt during those times anyway. The small interaction with Kanae never came to anything, and died with Minecraft as the girls shifted their attention to other stuff.

Then again, I did my reps and watch mostly JPs now, so can you give me some context on some of these newer collabs? Were they just set up randomly and started off? How kino are they so far?

Super fair point. The lack of linear progression probably throws her off a bit. I mean I’ll be completely honest too, using an interactive map has helped my life tenfold. I’ll know where a lot of traversing the map but there’s just random little spots where you’re like huh, I guess I missed that. Yeah, parries and shit are something you gotta practice a little bit off stream. You seriously can’t go in as an inexperienced souls player and think parrying is anything like fuck, idk, a Fiora reposte from league I guess? Essentially anything where you can predict a slow moving hit and have ample time window for your parry, and not this baby ass swing that if whiffed, will get you chunked 90% of the time

You're the schizo then, I never got this impression of Gura and I've been a day 1 watcher. She most certainly has frequently expressed frustration at game difficulty in various games, and if she ever zoom zoomed through a cutscene, it was nowhere near as big an issue as that.

Anon, they are talking on discord all the time. We know from NijiEN that JP, KR and ID are all playing and talking offscreen. Nina was even talking with Kanae, Mahiro and Amamiya.
I could list all the collabs that happened and the times they talked about their interactions but it wouldn't do much for obvious reasons..

Gura is good at rhythm games where there is only one or two "lines" of notes she needs to keep track of eg Musedash/Project Diva/Groove Coaster. Any game with more "lines" of notes (4+) like DJ Max or most mobile rhythm games she isn't as good at. It just depends on how much her pea brain can handle.

Anyone watching them at that time can tell you Early Lazulight was holo-adjacent though.

Have you seen her play DJ Max, FNF, or those mobile rhythm games? Sure Project Diva has a couple moments where you need to press multiple buttons simultaneously, but most of the time you are only processing what is basically a single file of notes moving around the screen.

I know it's kinda hard to explain, but it's like when Anya, Reine, Iofi or Risu interact with HoloEN or HoloJP. On the surface it looks normal but (as someone from the outside looking in) it feels like theres this weird feeling of Heirarchy, like when you're talking to someone 1 year below you. That kinda feeling. It's weird because when HoloEN and JP collab (that isn't Ina or Baelz) they're awkward as fuck but you don't get that same feeling. It's like 2 seniors from the same year but different schools talking to each other. That kinda thing.

Ah I must have missed that then, I only watched her first FNF stream. She still performed rather poorly on DJ Max + those mobile rhythm games, though you could probably attribute her misses on the mobile games to side swiping. She seems to have trouble with that mechanic on Project Diva and Groove Coaster as well. She is directionally challenged after all.
