Before suisei voice change, the cool voice schtick from a cute/gentle voice was all Kanata. That was her MO. She even had a clip where suisei was laughing hard at her cooler voice. Keep in mind that a significant portion of Kanata songs were done with a cool voice whereas Suisei pre voice change had more of a cute/upbeat approach. That all changes when Suisei "had to" change her voice because of her throat reasons and her popularity blew up. There's two ways to look at this

>There's a need to reinvent my character, I'm not getting as popular>What if I use my natural/a ikemen voice? >But that's something Kanata does in her songs>Says it's an actual medical reasonOf course I don't think it's not an actual medical reason that will damage Suisei throat in the long run but she's also one of the youngest hololive and the transition was so assured(despite possible risks) and done almost instantly. she also dropped a huge amount of the cutesy act. It's entirely possible that it's a mix of actual medical concerns and knowing how sharp and driven suisey is, a calculated move.
Timeline wise it makes sense. The collaborations ended so abruptly after that and Kanata made no mention of the voice change or any throat problems regarding Suisei.
There's also a bunch of other reasons such as Kanacoco being so close and Suisei feeling left out but you have to remember the voice thing IS important because they are both singer driven idols.
