It's way behind the times. Live2D avatars have had (access to, with a properly rigged model) full facial tracking for months (eye direction, eyebrow movement, tongue movement, lips movement, cheeks puffing detection, etc) instead of just stupid button toggles one for each emotion. Not to mention the ability to pin props to their 2D model that they've had for, what, over a year now? Nijisanji has the same issue as Hololive.
I guess neither company wants to shell out the cash for a Live2D license, or even hire their own techs to upgrade their own in-house engines.
