She was severely underweight until recently. This is rratting on my part, but the fact she became taller so late on her teenage years probably mean that she had her growth stunted by poor nutrition.
If she indeed got taller, that alone would account for some weight gain, and unless her weight gain was really drastic (which it wasn't) there's no way in hell that her figure change that much. She went from 0 to 1, not 0 to 100, which is still great progress
