>>20442172>>20443132>>20443586I'm 33. Wow, I feel like our demographic, late 20s and 30s, is a bigger part of some of these fanbases than most people think. Maybe grew up renting anime VHS tapes, going to cons, or other related things. That and my lifelong Touhou obsession led me here. We're also the demo that tends to have disposable income and time. I'm in the TCG/Tabletop business, Pokemon has exploded lately because people who grew up playing it are in their 30s with money to blow and time to spend. Same thing here maybe.
I love that she knows so many obscure references about things she likes like A3 and Idolish but hasn't seen Space Jam or The Lion King. Petra and Anya are mysteries and I know Petra at least wants to keep it that way, I respect that. I find it endearing that she is so openly passionate about the obscure stuff she likes. My friends are all nerds (TCG players) but Vtubers, Touhou and Visual Novels aren't exactly popular but they still like (put up with) me, some picked some of it up too. When I was younger I kind of "hid" the things I liked so when I see someone do that I can't help but admire them for it.
I love hags, Petra gives me the "must protect" vibe. Hags I want to love on, Petra I want to cheer on. I have younger sisters and she reminds me of them in some ways. Very girly, cute laugh, freak out over cute guys, normies but passionate about what they like.
I watched Vtubers for a few years now on and off but Petra for some reason clicked immediately when I watched her full streams, I'm still not able to explain it. I just wanted her to be successful and happy, whatever that looks like. When the
Stardew Valley thing happened I was surprised that it bothered me as much as it did. I was worried and didn't quite understand why. I love vtubers but all this stuff is still new and a little weird, I've felt emotions I didn't expect from watching vtubers. I just go with it because this stuff makes me happy. I'd almost go as far as to say I'm a better person for it, at least happier and that's other people telling me that.
