J1 being cancelled is shit, poor Maimoto, but makes sense as it happened literally just then, and his face would be plastered on all merchandising and advertising, they can't just scribble his face out and call it a day. Docomo had to be cancelled as it was a series that hadn't finished yet. The White Day shit isn't related. Looking on the Nijisanji site he doesn't have a recording there either. Yet his face is in the original White Day promo, and sales ended before the yab. So he effectively does not exist currently.

My point is that with sponsorship, it really can't be helped. No sponsor wants to be associated with unnecessary drama.
But this white day event is in house, it's Nijisanji event.
When even your own agency don't want your face on the company event banner, I think that'd hurt more.
