This would be probably successful in the long run if you made it a general retro thread with both Lumi and Amiya in its focus. Anya/Petra has global in it because it was two memes at the time merged into one, and making every merge thread "global" is funny but overdone.

You should rename it to something like "Btubers - Boomer vtubers". Gets the point across that the threads for vtubers who play older games, but still allows some flexibility in who or what might be allowed; if we find another vtuber playing older games they can be added, and there could possibly be allowances for if a bigger vtuber is playing an older game, like Pomu has done occasionally. The Anya/Petra global happened because of memes that eventually became its own established thing, which I don't think a Amiya-Lumi global can really match at this point.

It might be the rigging but I also think Amiya just moves around funny leading to her model looking funny sometimes. That was also pre-debut so she wasn't as used to using the model probably.

There's a decent amount of overlap between /vr/ and /vst/, if we want to go even further to help make this thread a thing we could have it include vtubers who focus on /vr/ and/or /vst/ games.
I don't know what we'd do for the name though, so sticking with just /vr/tubers would probably still work.

Sadly I miss more than my fair share of her streams because of timezone stuff. Someone might have to take up the torch. well she did choose to play the fanmade vga remake of QFG2 so maybe she's not that much of a purist when it comes to these things.

if she uses the Knossos launcher for FS1/2 there're some nice graphics mods that make the game look prettier

I see, kind of a shame since the original Silent Threat is pretty terrible and everyone treats Reborn as canon anyway. Not to mention all the fan campaigns, graphical tweaks, bug fixes, and engine improvements the community has made over the years. Just look at the Apollo fighter for instance.

I see what ya mean and to be honest, it's been so long since I played Vanilla Freespace I wouldn't mind seeing it in all its 1998 glory. Plus I was even worried that I would sound pushy when asking her not to skip the first game. So I know where you are coming from. I wonder if she would be ok with doing Freespace 1 vanilla and using the Open Source Project to play the second? At most, it just brings the graphics up to modern standards and fixes bugs. Plus Silent Threat does happen, its just not very good which is why everyone plays the Reborn remake. Which fits in a lot better into the overall story and is much more polished.

the thing is, she hasn't even streamed the game once yet but you are already having a fit about how she should play the game the "right" way and how you have to make sure not to "bombard her with stuff out of the gate" despite being a green name.

this makes me really worried what kind of grey names this will attract and this is going to be a red alert 2 situation all over again with people bombarding her with all kinds of stuff and stressing her out. we already are at the point where she streams pretty much all other games twice before she will even touch red alert 2 again after the last time she streamed it.

You are jumping to some conclusions here pal. The freespace series has in a lot of ways been forgotten. I doubt it will bring in a huge crowd. The C&C games have memes and an insane fanbase. The Freespace games really don't have any memes that go with them due to how serious the game stories are. The story and gameplay are the best things about this series. Lumi already played a modded game before as mentioned in this thread. So again, what are you trying to even say? There are a lot of buttons but many of them are kind of redundant. Plus she can rebind them any way she chooses. Not to mention there are in-game training missions that go over the most important and most used controls. You can't really skip them either.
