>>20774391Tens of thousands is an exaggeration. Hundreds to thousands of hours is more realistic and even so, the process is gradual and you'll notice yourself being able to understand her as you are studying.
The first few months might make you feel like nothing is happening but after you gain a decent foundation of vocabulary you'll start to pick out sentences.
And it is a positive feedback loop, you learn which makes you understand her more which is fun making you want to learn more.
It is a gruesome grind, I won't sugarcoat that but it is definitely not something you won't see the fruits of until after years of studying.
