I ate the same foods, in lesser amounts. Lifted weights and walked (yes walked, not run) on a treadmill I'd set up with a screen to watch Perkoa streams for an hour a day.
It's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change, don't buy into memes. Over time you'll not even be able to eat the same amount of food you used to.
Obviously it also works in reverse, I put all the weight back on by no longer really caring what I ate, so by eating the same foods just in larger amounts I piled the weight back on again.
It's just simple maths, energy in minus energy expended = weight gain or loss.
