I have been starting to learn japanese for some weeks now - i am getting somewhere.
I actually got myself to learn kanji last week. Currently started with 2 of those "basic" kanji.
Human and leg - 8 more to go.
Also learned the structure of the sentences and do duolingo on the side.

Fuck learning kanji via duolingo and try learning it somewhere else. Youtube, book etc. Kanji are actually structured with other kanji most of the time making them much easier to learn once you got that down.

I know hiragana and katakana as well as spoken JP but Kanji is a fucking mess. Even posted on /his/ that it is the most retarded writing system ever. At least its predecessor (Chinese Hanzi) had only one pronunciation per character.
Besides, I mostly watch bilingual vtubers

You read books and look up the words you don't know in a dictionary. It sucks ass at first but you learn much quicker. Obviously requires basic knowledge first but once you're at that point, reading regularly becomes your reps.
