timeline:
HololiveEN auditions are opened, a lot of vtubers, those with and without experience applied. in fact, some of those that were applying made their own discord - this is where pomu and elira met even before they made any vtuber persona.
they get rejected, they then form their most notable vtubers in the form of Mint and Nova. couple months pass, and there's no sign of HoloEN auditions reopening, so when NijiEN auditions opened, everyone applied (again), but this time Pomu and Elira got in because they actually had the proof (of being Mint and Nova) that they could be successful vtubers.
unsure of Finana, but she probs followed a similar path.
personally don't care if they're holo rejects or not. i'm thoroughly entertained. even with the boys and nijiEN threads seething at times of male x female ships, they're a riot and all their natural collabs (guerilla) are pure kino since you're straight up watching Slice of Life.
