I dont know you and i'm gonna assume that you are a monolingual normie, but even if you are not, my perspective might be different from yours:
Language is a tool. It's the tool of communication. Art (all kinds of art, be it pedantic old school literature, marvel movies, or anime titty) relies on languages to communicate stuff. Some of this languages are non-word-languages: cinematography, the culturally stamped meaning of musical textures, etc.
What I'm trying to get to is that in order to appreciate art, you need to understand some degree of the languages it employs. For instance, I bet that if you go watch classic ballet you're gonna be bored. You'll think it's shit. (i'd agree with this btw); and that's because you're illiterate in the language of ballet theater. The same way, if you were to show your mom a very jp otaku anime, she wouldnt get it.
Language is the same. You can translate, sure, the same way as you can have someone explain why that scene in monogatari is hillarious, but it will not hit the same.
So, if you're into consuming jap media, then I'd say it's worthy to learn the language. And you post on /vt/ so I'd say that's a granted.
Sorry if my writing skills are shit: im esl and almost never output. Also I'm mentally retarded, I speak weird in my native language as well. Im also lazy as shit and refuse to proofread this before posting it.
Also on a side note money is severely overrated, stop the grind its basically retarded.
