my guess is that it's so the website doesn't become just le epic anonymouse army harassment group.
in the context of /vt/ it's because discussing "roommates" or "past lives" is frowned upon in the community and could easily lead to schizos actually doxxing them and finding where some of them live
if someone got killed because there were no rules to keep schizos in check the board if not the entire website would get obliterated
