Apparently, Hololive was in their blow up period at the time, gaining contracts and doing events so Gen 3 had a ton of girls apply. The management, including YAGOO, wanted to orient the company in an idol-like direction so the discouraged the girls from interacting with guys, just like idol groups. Unfortunately, it was succesful in creating gachikoi types that Gen 3 panders to. See Rushia and Flare.

Cover sees how this has backfired over time, in the cases of the older Gens that never had a problem collabing with males like FBK and Matsuri. It gave the fans too much control over the actions of the talents and have been detrimental to the growth and wellbeing of other Holomem like Towa.

Today, Cover says they are trying to go back to the old way of letting the girls collab with males but a number of them are leery of doing so out of fear that their fans will feel betrayed and stop supporting them.

IMO, the girls should do as they please with Cover simply policing the company's brand image when it comes to collabs outside of Hololive Productions.

tl:dr YAGOO says they're entertainers not idols so we will start seeing the girls that want to collab with guys do so in the future. but Mori still isn't collabing with Cr1tical

The company pressured them to not do it and Miko complied along with the rest(I didn't know she collabed with males before). The only holdouts were Fubuki and Matsuri and Matsuri said there was pushback from management over her collabs because they said it hurt channel growth. I hate to admit it, but they're probably correct. The Matsurisu only complained when she plays APEX constantly or if she's talking/playing with guys on stream.

That's my point, Miko is a bad example because her growth could be easily attributed to having a bunch viral moments/clips right as the vtuber boom happened
Someone like Rushia is a far better example because her shtick relies on being the prototypical "attainable girlfriend" idol and that entire illusion would be shattered if she hung with males

Cover started branding hololive as an idol VTuber agency after 2nd gen. Early signs of this shift was when Sora got her third model in 2018 and went from JK to idol. Then Cover launched the hololive idol project in 2019. So they inherited the essence of the idol industry with this shift.

I know that thanking your donations or superchats is a common practice for streamers in general, but can someone like Ina get reprimanded by their agency if they don't dedicate a part or their airtime for readings? I know Ina doesn't need to milk donations that hard since she lives with her parents and her roommate provides an additionnal revenue, but I wonder if Cover or her manager just let her do her thing or penalizes her in a way.

Superchat reading culture usually depends on the streamer. On one end you have people who read them as they're sent, down the line you have people who read them at the end of the stream, or on a separate stream on a weely/monthly basis. On the other end you have someone like Mito who never reads them and the fanbase even deliberately sends SC only when the stream has ended to not interrupt her.

Usually what generates butthurt is when someone who usually reads them stops doing so, hurting some fragile donators.
