It's hard to get a read on it but it seems they were very incompetently run/managed and this caused a lot of internal strife. At one point Lumi was a manager for them and it seemed because their actual main manager was literally MIA for long stretches of time.
Considering they are allowed to keep their assets after leaving, basically it looks like they were wondering what was the point of staying when they were practically already on their own operating anyway but giving a cut to people who do literally nothing at all for them.
The remaining ones seem to be doing alright however, some of the gen 2s growing faster than gen1s ever did.
