Normal collabs are just run of the mill, nothing too special.
When they do imitations they just imitate popular catchphrases and nothing else.
When they play a character like in the ikemen host clubs streams or the loli streams they usually follow a well traveled path on how these stereotypical characters act and what kind of things they say. Sometimes they even have a mini script to guide them to where they should go with the situation (like in special company channel streams).
Good part of this comedy (and a lot of japanese comedy) is the basic boke/tsukkomi routine which has very defined parameters on how it's done.
There's some sort of improvisation and adapting to conversation too, and i'm not saying they're bad at all, don't misunderstand me. There are genuine holos good at improv, kinda.
What i'm saying is that kind of things they do on the streams is also the kind of things they have seen tens of times in the past and they had time to improve after doing them another dozen of times themselves. It isn't skill, it's cultural difference.
If the EN were born with the same cultural baggage, could chat with veteran members about this and did the same amount of this kind of collabs JPs do they would be more adept at them. But again, having a different cultural background is what makes them better at different situations the JP either struggle on or just don't do.
