>>21689190it's an interesting thing to think about and worth talking about imo, it made me think a lot about how i experience some media.
while i enjoyed RIP and the rest of deadbeats, i properly got into her music a little bit after debut when i was just like hey she's a pretty fun streamer. the back to back of live again/cursed night got me super into her though when i realized oh, there's a lot more going on here than novelty rap which the rest of deadbeats was, she's more than a gimmick. dove the back catalogue and fell in love with a lot of it. her music is w/o question the reason i connected with her so hard and getting to know the person behind that music is a massive part of her appeal to me - her zatsus where she's talking about music and her lyric dives etc are my favourite content of hers by a mile. its a really special thing to get this level of insight into an artist you like and the streaming side and music side both amplify each other a lot.
simultaneously though, i know i probably wouldn't have given her the time of day if i didn't know her as a streamer beforehand. and she was far from my favourite streamer at that point, just a pretty good stream i enjoyed. w/o prior exposure there is very, very easily a reality where i clicked on Guantanamo, went oh thats neat, and then proceeded to never think about it again other than "saw a pretty cool indie animation one time". and thats kind of crazy to think about, because watching her has been a fixture of my life for the better part of 2 years now and im still listening to all her music regularly, and the difference between having and not having that is seeing her play some rpg maker kusoge one time.
its made me really take stock of music and other media that i experience and try to chase things down past the surface level
honestly my experience being a mori fan has resulted in a lot of self reflection and i like to think i'm a better more open minded person because of her.
sorry for the extremely gay post but she makes me introspective and i love her so much
